Reports indicate that the US Air Force recently tested a new hypersonic plane that can get from New York to London in approximately an hour. Commercial flight on this X-51A Waverider is in the distant future at best, but even as alluring as this high-speed jet is, it may not be economically viable for human travel purposes anyway. It will, however, be useful for weapons.
