United States economists Alvin E. Roth and Lloyd S. Shapely won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Economics for their work with “matching” people to limited resources. Such researh involves helping schools match what they are looking for to qualities of students that apply ( as well as the other way around) and determining which donated kidneys match which patients in the medical field.
