    This experiment shows why our health care system is broken. Most of us are spending “someone else’s money”, or so we think. Our employer pays, or our insurance company pays, above all else “the government” pays.
    Fundamental reform of this broken system MUST include provisions that move us closer to the left on the chart above.

    I agree with Terry’s comment about importance of having a stake in health care costs. I think it’s more complicated actually in splitting the restaurant bill. If I were splitting equally with friends I would order the pasta. If people I didn’t know we’re paying, I’d order the lobster.
